Distribution se Australia. Usually eucalyptus forest and tall open-forest, from sea-level to 1200m, preferring drier well-drained slopes above creeks and gullies where stunned shrubs. Common but very local.

Found in wide variety of habitats, including edges of monsoon forests, savannah, woodland and grassland where laval plants grow. Very common and very widespread.
