Usually eucalyptus forest and tall open-forest, from sea-level to 1200m, preferring drier well-drained slopes above creeks and gullies where stunned shrubs. Common but very local.

Common and widespread. Distributed se Australia and along Queensland coast, subspecies in northern NT. Savannah woodland and eucalyptus open-forest and woodland, preferring mostly grassy areas and suburban gardens.
